Injection molder Sibo Group is expanding into North Carolina less than two years after the company's initial push into the United States.
The Slovenia-based plastics packaging company will spend $10 million on a new location at the Gastonia Technology Park, according to the Gaston County Economic Development Commission.
The company's U.S subsidiary, Sibo USA, opened operations in Harrisonburg, Va., last year to help shorten delivery times to customers in both North America and South America. That Virginia location has 12,000 square feet for both injection molding machinery and warehouse space.
In North Carolina, Sibo expects to hire between 20 and 25 workers over the next three or four years as construction begins later this year.
Sibo Group has been in business since 1967 and has more than 400 employees in total. Products include caps and closures, jars and thin-wall packaging. Segments include cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, oral care and food. The company also makes molds.
